For Penrith and the suburbs near Badgerys Creek, WSI is a far shorter airport run than Mascot. Here's how departure transfers work from day one.
How long does it take to get to WSI? #
It depends where you start. By road it is about 24 km from Penrith (25–35 minutes), 32 km from Blacktown (30–45 minutes), 30 km from Campbelltown (35–50 minutes) and 61 km from the Sydney CBD (55–80 minutes). Western Sydney International sits at Badgerys Creek, and road access includes the toll-free M12 Motorway.
Those ranges start from a clear road, so allow more at busy times. Every area page carries its own distance and drive time to both airports, and the fare we quote is for your actual pickup address and does not move once we have confirmed it.
How early should I arrive at WSI? #
We have not seen WSI publish arrival guidance of its own, so use Sydney Airport's: two hours before a domestic flight with checked bags (one hour with hand luggage only) and three hours before an international flight, and never later than your airline's check-in closing time. One integrated terminal removes the which-building question entirely — domestic and international check in under the same roof.
In the opening weeks, treat those margins as a floor rather than a target: WSI opens to passengers on 25 October 2026, so the first flights will be the first time anyone uses the building. Our suggested pickup works backwards from departure: check-in margin first, then the real drive from your address at that hour of the day.
Can I book a 3am departure from WSI? #
Yes, you can request a pickup for one. Western Sydney International has no curfew, so airlines can schedule flights at any hour; Sydney Airport works around an 11pm to 6am curfew that has a defined set of exemptions. That is not a technicality — it is a published operating difference, and it is why a departure time Mascot cannot schedule is possible here.
Early-morning and late-night trips can be requested like any other. Trips from 10pm to 5.59am carry a 20% late-night surcharge, shown in the fare before you send the request rather than added afterwards. For a pre-dawn departure, request the trip well ahead, so there is time for our call and the payment link before the night.
How do I get to WSI without a car? #
Five bus routes have served WSI since 5 July 2026, every 30 minutes, 5am to 10pm daily: 772 from Mount Druitt via St Clair, 790 from Penrith via Kingswood, 825 from Liverpool via Bonnyrigg, 845 from Campbelltown via Oran Park and 860 from Liverpool via Leppington.
There is also WSI Link, a free shuttle between the airport and St Marys station, every 30 minutes, 4.30am to midnight Sunday to Thursday and 4.30am to 1am Friday and Saturday. It starts once passenger flights begin on 25 October 2026. The Sydney Metro line to the airport will not be open when passenger flights begin. Until it opens, the rail connection is St Marys station plus the free WSI Link shuttle.
What if my flight leaves before 5am or after 10pm? #
It depends which end of the clock you are on. The bus routes run 5am to 10pm daily, and WSI Link runs 4.30am to midnight Sunday to Thursday and 4.30am to 1am Friday and Saturday. A 3am check-in falls squarely in the gap. Your realistic options at that hour are driving and parking, a taxi or rideshare you hope to raise, or a car booked in advance.
For a door-to-door trip at 2am with bags and a family, a car booked in advance is the only one of those options you can confirm ahead of time. That is the case this service was built for: a pickup requested ahead, a driver held against a named time once the trip is paid, and a fare fixed before you pay. What is still unpublished about WSI drop-off? #
Two things, and we would rather name them than guess. The exact kerb zone numbering and pick-up bay allocations inside the terminal forecourt do not appear on Transport for NSW's page. Neither does whether a commercial access fee will apply to booked transfers, or at what rate.
Transport for NSW does publish one kerbside detail. When the airport opens, dedicated taxi ranks and rideshare pick-up zones will be available directly outside the terminal. If an access fee applies, it is included in the fare we quote and never collected from you at the kerb. What do I need to book a WSI departure? #
Your pickup address, your flight number, how many passengers and how much luggage. The fixed fare is on screen straight away, and nothing is paid until we have called you to confirm it and sent a secure payment link. Departures from 25 October 2026 can be requested now, and the WSI airport guide names the airlines and the date each one starts.
Child seats are fitted on request, and larger groups travel together in the 11-seat maxi van. If plans move, tell us when we call, or email bookings@wsitransfers.com.au with your name, mobile and travel date. A 4am departure does not change the shape of the trip. It only changes the hour.

How early should I be at WSI for my flight?
Until the airport and airlines publish WSI-specific guidance, we apply the standard margins — about 90 minutes for domestic and 3 hours for international — and our suggested pickup builds them in automatically.
How close is WSI for Western Sydney residents?
It depends where in the west. By road, Penrith is about 24 km from WSI (25–35 min) against 58 km to Sydney Airport, and Liverpool about 25 km (25–40 min) against 29 km. Parramatta is nearer Sydney Airport: about 26 km to Sydney Airport against 39 km to WSI. Your area page has typical times and fares.
Can I fly out at dawn or midnight from WSI?
Yes — the airport has no curfew, so airlines can schedule departures at any hour. Put the pickup time you need into the quote; the fare is fixed in the quote and confirmed with you when we call back, before you pay.
Is there a train to Western Sydney Airport?
Not yet. Transport for NSW has not published an opening date for the Metro line. Until the line opens, the rail connection is St Marys station plus WSI Link, a free shuttle every 30 minutes, 4.30am to midnight Sunday to Thursday and 4.30am to 1am Friday and Saturday.
