Western Sydney Airport maxi taxi alternative for groups

Can I book a maxi taxi to Western Sydney Airport? #
You can book the vehicle most people mean by one — a 7 or 8-seat people mover or an 11-seat maxi van — as a pre-booked hire vehicle with a driver, not a taxi, for travel from 25 October 2026, when Western Sydney International opens to passengers. There are no passenger flights before that date. From Penrith the maxi van is from $174 one way, GST included, on the same fixed-fare terms as Sydney Airport.
WSI has a single terminal handling both domestic and international flights, which removes the terminal question entirely — there is only one building, and your driver goes to it.
How do groups get to WSI without a car? #
Five Transport for NSW bus routes serve the airport, every 30 minutes from 5am to 10pm daily, and have run since 5 July 2026.
Transport for NSW has also published a free WSI Link shuttle between St Marys station and the terminal, every 30 minutes, 4.30am to midnight Sunday to Thursday and 4.30am to 1am Friday and Saturday. It starts once passenger flights begin on 25 October 2026. The Sydney Metro line to the airport will not be open when passenger flights begin. Until it opens, the rail connection is St Marys station plus the free WSI Link shuttle. For a group with luggage outside those hours, or from an area none of the five routes reaches, a booked vehicle is the practical option.

Which areas are closest to Western Sydney Airport? #
By road, the areas we list nearest to WSI are Penrith at about 24 km, Liverpool at about 25 km, Greater Western Sydney at about 25 km and Campbelltown at about 30 km. For the nearest of them the difference from Mascot is large: Penrith is about 58 km from Sydney Airport and 24 km from this one.
Further east the relationship reverses. By road the Eastern Suburbs are about 12 km from Sydney Airport and 64 km from WSI, and the Northern Beaches about 84 km from WSI. For those areas a WSI trip is driven by the flight rather than by convenience.
Does Western Sydney Airport have a curfew? #
No. WSI is curfew-free, which is the operational difference from Sydney Airport and its 11pm–6am restriction. It can schedule flights at hours Mascot legally cannot.
For transfers that mostly matters at the edges of the day. A midnight arrival or a 4am departure at WSI can be requested like any other trip, including at hours when no bus is running and there is no train yet, and trips from 10pm to 5.59am carry a late-night surcharge, shown in the fare you are quoted.
What will pickup at WSI actually look like? #
When the airport opens, dedicated taxi ranks and rideshare pick-up zones will be available directly outside the terminal. That is the arrangement Transport for NSW has published; for parking, the airport's own website is the place to check.
What is not yet published is the exact kerb zone numbering, the bay allocation inside the forecourt, and whether a commercial access fee will apply to booked transfers and at what rate. We would rather list those gaps than fill them with a confident guess — the arrangements are re-checked against Transport for NSW before opening, and this page states the date it was last checked.

WSI group transfer questions
When does Western Sydney International open?
On 25 October 2026. The airlines announced so far are Jetstar from 25 October 2026, Air New Zealand from 26 October 2026, Singapore Airlines from 23 November 2026 and Qantas from 28 March 2027. Transfers can be requested now for travel dates from opening.
Is there a train to Western Sydney Airport?
Not yet. The Sydney Metro line to the airport will not be open when passenger flights begin. Until it opens, the rail connection is St Marys station plus the free WSI Link shuttle. Transport for NSW has not published an opening date for the Metro line.
How far is Western Sydney Airport from Parramatta?
About 39 km by road, typically 35–50 min via the M4 and the toll-free M12. Sydney Airport is closer, at about 26 km (30–40 min). Each area page publishes its own distance and drive time to both airports.
Can I book an 11-seater to Western Sydney Airport?
Yes, for travel from 25 October 2026. Our 11-seat maxi van is a pre-booked hire vehicle carrying up to eleven passengers and ten large bags, from $174 one way from Penrith, GST included, on the same fixed-fare terms as every other route we quote.
