Can I book a maxi taxi to Sydney Airport? #

You can book the vehicle most people mean by one — a 7 or 8-seat people mover or an 11-seat maxi van — as a pre-booked hire vehicle with a driver, not a taxi, to all three Sydney Airport terminals, at a fare fixed before you travel. There is no rank and no meter. From Inner West the maxi van is from $143 one way, GST included, and it carries up to ten large bags — the number that matters when nine people fly with a suitcase each.

Airport pickups carry your flight number and are tracked, so the driver's arrival follows your actual landing. Drop-offs are booked against your departure time with a buffer sized to the terminal and the hour rather than a flat rule.

Which Sydney Airport terminal do I need? #

T1 is the international terminal. T2 and T3 are the domestic terminals, and which of the two your flight uses depends on the operating airline. Check your boarding pass — terminal allocations are commercial arrangements that have changed before, and the only reliable answer is the one printed on your own ticket.

Your booking carries the flight number, so the driver goes to the terminal the airline is actually using on the day. If you are unsure at booking time, the flight number resolves it for you.

Where do pre-booked group vehicles pick up at Sydney Airport? #

Our pre-booked 7 to 11 seat vehicles use the designated priority pickup zones, not the taxi rank — a rank is for taxis, and a booked hire vehicle is a different arrangement. The airport charges a ground-transport access fee for that, and it is included in the fare you are quoted rather than added at the kerb.

Meet and greet is available as an extra if you would rather your driver came into the arrivals hall with a name board. For a group of nine arriving on an international flight, that is often the difference between a smooth exit and twenty minutes of phone calls.

Is a maxi taxi cheaper than the train for a group? #

It depends on how many of you there are and where you start, and the station access fee is usually what decides it. That fee is added per person, each way, on top of the Opal fare and outside the Opal daily and weekly caps, while our pre-booked 11-seat maxi van — a hire vehicle, not a taxi — is one fare for the whole group, from $143 one way from Inner West.

So a family of four pays that fee four times in each direction before the fare itself, then carries the suitcases down to the platform. One or two people travelling light are usually better off on the train, and our comparison page publishes the exact current figures so you can check rather than trust us.

What does the 11pm–6am curfew mean for my booking? #

Sydney Airport cannot schedule flights between 11pm and 6am, so the first departures of the day leave close together from 6am and their passengers are on the road before dawn. A pre-dawn pickup can be requested like any other trip, and trips from 10pm to 5.59am carry a late-night surcharge, shown in the fare you are quoted.

If your flight is in that first wave, request your fare early and expect an early pickup time. Western Sydney International has no curfew, so from 25 October 2026 there is an alternative for travellers whose schedule does not suit Mascot's hours.

What the train actually costs a group

Tapping on or off at either Sydney Airport station adds a station access fee to the ordinary Opal fare: $18.61 per adult and $16.64 per child, youth or concession. It is charged per person, every tap, and it sits outside the Opal daily and weekly travel caps — it has its own separate cap of $37.75 for adults.

So a family of four pays it four times going out and four times coming home, before the train fare itself and before anyone carries a suitcase down to the platform. For one or two people travelling light the train is still usually the better answer, and we say so on our comparison page.

Which vehicle fits your group?

Child seats take a passenger seat each and oversized items consume large-bag space — both are counted when the booking tool sizes your vehicle.

Passenger, large-bag, carry-on and pram capacity for each vehicle class
Vehicle Passengers Large bags Carry-on Prams
Sedan Toyota Camry or similar 4 2 2 1
People Mover Kia Carnival or similar 6 passengers when carrying 6+ large bags 7 4 4 2
People Mover XL Hyundai Staria or similar 8 4 4 2
Maxi Van Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, 11 seats 11 10 8 3
Luxury Van Premium people mover 7 5 4 2

Not sure which size you need? Enter your passengers, suitcases and any child seats and we'll recommend the smallest vehicle that genuinely fits — golf bags, surfboards and prams included. Child seats take a passenger seat, so the tool counts them properly rather than leaving it to you.

Are these maxi taxis?

No — we operate pre-booked hire vehicles with drivers, not taxis. People search for “maxi taxi” or “maxi cab” when they need a vehicle for seven to eleven, and that size of vehicle is what we provide: booked ahead at a fixed fare, with no rank, no hail and no meter. The legal difference between a taxi and a hire vehicle is explained on our maxi taxi Sydney page.

Our authorisation, accreditation and insurance position is set out in full on the safety and compliance page — including what is confirmed and what is still pending before launch.

Why book with us

Booking a Sydney Airport group transfer

  • The fare is fixed before you pay Shown in full before you leave your details, with typical tolls, the passenger service levy and GST inside the number. We confirm it with you on the call, and once you've paid, it does not move. No meter, no surge, no toll added afterwards.
  • We track the flight, not the clock Your booking carries the flight number. If you land early or late, the pickup time moves with it — you are not paying for a driver who left on the scheduled time.
  • Up to 11 in one vehicle Seven, eight and eleven-seat vehicles, quoted with the luggage you actually have. A group of nine is one booking and one fare, not three cars meeting at the terminal.
  • Child seats fitted before we arrive NSW law requires an approved restraint for every child under seven. Choose rear-facing, forward-facing or booster at booking and it is installed before your pickup.
  • Confirmed by a person, paid by link No payment is taken on this website. We call you back to confirm the vehicle and the fare, then send a secure payment link, and your trip is booked once it's paid. To change or cancel, reply to our call or email bookings@wsitransfers.com.au.
  • Early and late trips, both airports Pre-dawn departures and late-night arrivals can be requested; trips from 10pm to 5.59am carry a 20% late-night surcharge, shown in your fare. Sydney Airport has an 11pm to 6am curfew, and Western Sydney International has none.

Booked hire vehicles with drivers, not taxis. What NSW requires of a booking service, its drivers and its vehicles is set out on our safety and compliance page.

FAQ · Sydney Airport maxi taxi

Sydney Airport group transfer questions

How many people can a maxi taxi take to Sydney Airport?

Our largest pre-booked vehicle, the 11-seat maxi van, takes up to eleven passengers with ten large bags; it is a hire vehicle, not a taxi. Seven and eight-seat people movers suit smaller groups. Child seats take a passenger seat each, so the booking tool sizes the vehicle from your actual passengers and luggage.

Do you pick up from Sydney Airport arrivals?

Yes. Booked vehicles use the designated priority pickup zones and the airport's ground-transport access fee is itemised in your fare. Meet and greet in the arrivals hall is available as an extra if you would prefer your driver to come in.

Which terminal is my flight at Sydney Airport?

T1 is international; T2 and T3 are domestic and the allocation depends on the operating airline. Check your boarding pass rather than a third-party page — allocations are commercial arrangements and they have changed before.

Can you collect a group at 4am for an early flight?

A 4am collection can be requested like any other trip. Sydney Airport's curfew lifts at 6am, so the first departures of the day need a pre-dawn pickup, and trips from 10pm to 5.59am carry a late-night surcharge, shown in the fare you are quoted. Request it early, so the vehicle size is confirmed well before the night.
