How many passengers and bags can a maxi cab carry?
Up to 11 passengers and 10 large bags in our largest vehicle, the maxi van. One way from Inner West to Sydney Airport, GST included: sedan from $88, 7-seat people mover from $108, 11-seat maxi van from $143. These are the numbers the booking tool uses to size your vehicle; child seats take a passenger seat, and golf bags and surfboards each take the space of two large suitcases.

Up to eleven passengers and ten large bags fit in one of our vehicles: the eleven-seat maxi van, a pre-booked hire vehicle rather than a taxi. The eight-seat and seven-seat people movers carry four large bags each, with the seven-seater dropping to six passengers once you are carrying six or more large bags.
The trade-off in that last sentence is the part worth reading twice. Seats and luggage compete for the same vehicle, and a group that fits on paper by seat count can still fail on bags. Telling you where the limit is beats discovering it in a driveway at 4am.
How much luggage can an 11-seat maxi cab carry? #
Our 11-seat maxi van carries ten large suitcases plus eight carry-on bags, which is the figure that makes it useful for an airport run rather than merely large. A group of nine with a case each and hand luggage is inside that comfortably.
Oversized items are counted separately because they behave differently. A golf bag, a surfboard or a boxed bike consumes the space of two large suitcases, so three sets of golf clubs cost you six bag slots before anyone's clothes are loaded. Declare them at booking and the vehicle is sized accordingly.
- Prams: up to three in the maxi van, sharing load space with the bags.
- Folding wheelchairs and walkers: stowable, and they take large-bag space.
- Powered or non-folding wheelchairs: cannot be carried — no vehicle in this fleet has a ramp or a hoist.
Travelling as a family: child seats, prams and early flights #
NSW law requires an approved restraint for every child under seven, matched to age and size. Rear-facing, forward-facing and booster seats are fitted before we arrive, so nobody is wrestling with a seat belt on the kerb with a flight to catch.
Each child seat occupies a passenger seat, which is why a family of six with two under-fives is often a different vehicle from a family of six with teenagers. Declare the ages at booking and the tool does that arithmetic before a driver is assigned rather than after.
Travelling as a group: airports, cruises, weddings and work #
The same vehicle solves several problems that all look like the same problem: nine people who need to arrive together, a cruise departure where the luggage is the constraint, a wedding party moving between two addresses, or a corporate group whose booking is made by somebody who is not travelling.
What they share is that splitting the group is the expensive failure — three cars means three fares, three arrival times and one person stuck in the slowest vehicle. One booking, one fixed fare and one arrival is the whole proposition.
How much more does a bigger vehicle cost? #
Only the base fare changes. Every vehicle shares one per-kilometre rate, so a 7-seat people mover is $20 more than a sedan on any trip and the 11-seat maxi van $55 more. One way from Inner West to Sydney Airport, GST included, that is a sedan from $88, a people mover from $108 and a maxi van from $143.
The total includes the distance, the typical corridor tolls, the NSW passenger service levy, any extras and GST, with no meter running. A larger vehicle still costs more than a sedan, which is the honest reason to size it properly rather than upward: the recommender picks the smallest vehicle that genuinely fits your passengers and luggage, and shows the alternatives with the price difference so the choice is yours rather than ours.
Are these maxi taxis?
No — we operate pre-booked hire vehicles with drivers, not taxis. People search for “maxi taxi” or “maxi cab” when they need a vehicle for seven to eleven, and that size of vehicle is what we provide: booked ahead at a fixed fare, with no rank, no hail and no meter. Maxi cab questions
How many suitcases fit in a maxi cab?
Up to ten large suitcases and eight carry-on bags in our eleven-seat maxi van, a pre-booked hire vehicle rather than a taxi. The seven and eight-seat people movers carry four large bags each. Oversized items such as golf bags or surfboards consume the space of two large suitcases each.
Can a maxi cab take a pram?
Our pre-booked hire vehicles can — up to three prams in the 11-seat maxi van, and two in the people movers. Prams share load space with your suitcases, so tell us at booking and the vehicle is sized to carry both rather than one at the expense of the other.
Can we book a maxi cab for a cruise terminal?
You can book one of our 7 to 11 seat hire vehicles, which are pre-booked rather than taxis, to the Overseas Passenger Terminal at Circular Quay or to White Bay. Cruise luggage is usually the binding constraint rather than passenger count, which is exactly the case the eleven-seat van's ten-bag capacity exists for.
Is it cheaper to book one maxi cab or two sedans?
One vehicle, on any trip. Every vehicle shares one per-kilometre rate, so our 11-seat maxi van costs $55 more than a single sedan, while a second sedan doubles the whole fare. It is also simpler — one pickup time, one arrival — and the booking tool shows the alternatives with the price difference beside each.
Can a company book a maxi cab for a team?
A company can book our 7 to 11 seat hire vehicles, which are pre-booked with a driver rather than taxis, and the request can come from somebody who is not travelling.
